Bio
I paint to slow down time. I paint landescapes because through landescape I can give shape not only to what is seen, but above all all to what is felt. My works stem from the utopia of giving back – through the image- the sounds, the smells, but above all the atmosphere of a place. Reality as a given fact is at the foundation of my work; the contemplation of reality and its understanding through drawing is the starting point, but also that which releases the objectivity of form towars new scenarios of the imagination. Through layers of matter, I paint the tangibility of movement; I scrape away the material to move- like the dawn- from darkness to light, creating spaces of contemplation and silence. Every medium -to large- scale painting is preceded by countless small – format studies, a reflection of my expressive urgency to capture an impression, a vision, on paper. My works are born from the dark because darkness satisfies my need for synthesis, and the night satisfies my need for mystery.
I was born in Ortona (Chieti) in 1989. In 2008, I enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, joining the painting program led by Professor Adriano Bimbi. During my time at the Academy, I participated in various artist residencies across Tuscany, where I began to focus on landscape painting—a theme that remains central to my artistic practice. In 2016, I spent a year at the “Il Bisonte” Foundation for the Graphic Arts after being awarded a scholarship. I continued to participate in artist residencies in Tuscany until 2019. I currently live and work in Florence.
